This is just a nice shot of some of the inlet of the ocean looking towards the mountains in the north. I wanted to capture some scale of the area. A helicopter just happened to fly over when I was about to take the photo. You can’t really see much of the helicopter but it’s just another detail that views might see if they take a close look at the image. I enjoy looking at all the various tones and shades of blue in this picture, it was great day at the beach.

here is a nice shot of some surfers getting into the water. i like how the beach bends around the corner and you can just imagine it going on forever down the beach. You can also see an airplane taking off in the sky. I am not sure where the nearest airport was but I could often see planes taking off and landing. You could really see the planes for awhile this day with no clouds and cleaner air then in downtown L.A. where I usually am.

These two men were out on their surf boards and I wanted to capture a scene showing how it appears they are alone in the ocean. I am not sure what the craft they are on are called so I will call them surf boards. A friend told me they were called something else, looks like I need to learn some surfing lingo.

Here is a nice shot looking out into the wild blue ocean. Take a moment for yourself and think of the water crashing against the beach. Close your eyes and let your stress wash away with the tide. I wonder what that bird is thinking about? I wonder if he is looking for a good spot to catch dinner? Let the ocean take you in as with life you will never know where you will turn up when the tide comes in.

here is another shot of the pier, this time featuring a surfer slowly making his way under the pier as a on looker watches from above. I like the empty feeling of the pier as if saying those who showed up today get a nice relaxing day.

This is one of my favorite shots I got from this day. The colors are really amazing to me, how I can capture the details under the bridge while still getting some decent exposure for the background. I think it helps that it was near noon so the direct light of the sun would reflect back under the bridge; film really has some great latitude in it that my digital camera could not hope to get. Many savvy photographers are trying HDR photography a process of combining 3 or more images each shot at a different exposure level then combing them in editing. Well with film you don’t need to do this and you don’t have that computer animation look.
This was a really long pier, I was shooting with a 50mm lens so this is about the view you can expect if you take a look down it. Spend some time looking around at the colors and the details.

I was walking along this semi pier when I stopped to take a look at the distant mountains staring back at me. A simple bird was sitting there almost looking at me wondering if I had some spare food in my pocket. It was cold that day I bet the bird was keeping warm with its feathers at least warmer then I was. It was nice calm moment looking out to the sea. I really like the blue and greens that come out in the water.

Here is a nice shot I got of a fisherman trying to get a catch over side the lookout. There are some great purples in this shot. The man looked so relaxed fishing and appears he does it a lot. I would say it was about fifty feet to the water below.
